20% Thicker for Maximum Durability

The defining characteristic of the Controlled Sound® X is its beefier construction. Crafted from a single ply of 12-mil coated film, making it 20% thicker than standard 10-mil heads, providing a meatier, fatter attack and a tougher striking zone. The premium coated finish ensures a warm midrange tone, crisp stick articulation, and excellent responsiveness across the entire surface of the drum.

To control unwanted, ringing overtones, Remo laminated a 5-mil Black Dot™ directly to the underside of the head's center. Because the dot is on the bottom, your sticks always make full contact with the responsive top coating. The center dot dampens harsh outer-ring frequencies naturally, focusing your snare's energy into a punchy, mid-range pocket. This unique combination gives you a built-in pre-EQ'd sound that excels in live venues and pristine studio tracking sessions alike.
